About the Dash

In 2008, that year’s camp theme was ‘Pirates’. This happened to be the same year that three counselors decided to run from Hamlin to Pike, south on Route 19, a 63 mile journey, as a way to raise money and awareness for GVRC. The counselors called this “Run for the Booty.” Booty has two meanings for camp. “Booty” meaning the most amazing prize, at the Genesee Valley Rotary Camp, campers have the time of their lives that they talk about for an entire year leading up to the next year’s camp. Another meaning for “Booty” was to raise money for this remarkable place.
